Manual handling

Manual Handling Training

Manual handling injuries are the biggest burden organisations face in workplace health, costing billions of dollars per year in Australia. They place an enormous toll not only on the individual but on workplace productivity, culture and finances. Optimum's manual handling training programs are specifically designed and tailor-made with you to have maximum effect and return on investment.

Our programs have three phases:

1

Design

We work directly with the OHS representatives at your workplace to define the key manual handling issues, review injury registers and data, analyse the workplace demands, and design a presentation that specifically addresses the key issues for your organisation. No off-the-shelf training seminars.

2

Delivery

Roll-out of the designed training program, including a presentation to groups as well as practical application.

3

Follow-up and evaluation (optional)

A key component that links the theoretical knowledge gained to its practical application. Our staff work directly with your staff in their workspace to check appropriate delivery of the practices learnt and deal with any questions on the spot.

We have experience delivering manual handling training to a wide variety of industries including aged care, construction, government contractors and more. Contact us today for a free customised quote and delivery plan.

Ergonomics

Ergonomic Assessments and Seminars

Ergonomics is not just about the desk - it is about how the person interacts with their work environment. People seldom realise that desk-bound workers face a similar risk of injury to employees who perform heavy manual handling, because prolonged, sustained and repetitive postures place enormous strain on the body.

Optimum's ergonomics program is designed to:

  • Evaluate the work area and correct set-up
  • Find optimal heights and angles for equipment
  • Support good posture
  • Address work patterns and breaks
  • Account for the impact of environmental factors

Our ergonomic program is delivered both in presentation style and through practical implementation at the workstation. All staff leave with a detailed understanding of the impact of posture on their bodies, the ergonomic strategies to reduce this impact, a practical application of these strategies, and tools such as workplace stretching and posture correction exercises. On-site clinics

Workplace Injury Prevention Clinics

Optimum can provide an on-site physiotherapist and exercise physiologist to conduct one-on-one consultations with your staff. The key focus of these consultations is first to assess the individual and outline key areas of deficiency and risk. We then provide education in workplace injury prevention with specific work fitness exercises, postural recommendations, manual handling training and safe lifting practice - tailored to that individual.

We can conduct regular follow-up clinic days to reassess employees and update and review their prescribed treatment and exercise programs, further improving the outcomes of the clinic. These clinics reduce workplace injuries and also lift employee engagement, satisfaction and productivity.

Call us to arrange an obligation-free discussion where we can design a specific program to meet your organisation's requirements.
